The Centre for Legal Innovation (CLI) launched its Roundtable Series in Perth on 20 February 2017. Since then, we have held Roundtables in Australia, New Zealand and Asia – Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Perth, Singapore, Sydney, and Wellington. These are invitation-only facilitated events that focus on building networks and discussing practical solutions to issues facing contemporary legal practice.
Our Roundtables encourage diverse points of view and different approaches to common issues. We actively seek participation from lawyers (private practice, government and legal departments), allied legal professionals, alternative legal service/product providers, legal associations, and legal industry consultants.
Participants are encouraged to attend with the intention of entering into candid discussions, sharing their experience and asking questions of each other in the course of the two hours they spend together. These conversations remain private with participants encouraged to continue to strengthen their network through connections made at the Roundtables and as a member of CLI’s Legalprenuers Lab.
Where appropriate and if common themes emerge from the Roundtables, these are consolidated (but not attributed) and published as Key Takeaways on the CLI website.
In 2020, two Roundtable series will be held in Australia, New Zealand and Asia:
- The first series was conducted between February to June on the topic Beyond the Legal Innovation Hype…There is? And explored what was being innovated and where in law firms, legal departments, ALSPs, and community legal centres. If you would like to watch the video capturing key takeaways from this series, please click here.
- The second series will commence in September on the topic To tech, not to tech or is it how or which to tech? This series will explore the uptake of legaltech in the legal industry and how, if at all, COVID-19 has changed the approach, use and engagement with technology (now and in the future) by law firms, legal departments, ALSPs, community legal centres, legaltech developers, legaltech funders and clients.
