It’s been a while since I’ve done a week in review…mostly because the weeks have been flying by – I can’t believe it’s April!
So, I’m not going to catch up all the weeks this year, just going to pull some big ones into this week…
*The CLI Generative AI (GAI) Roundtables have been moving full steam ahead. We have 19 scheduled and we are around one-third of the way through with common themes emerging but some sector specific ones too. If this is of interest, I’m writing up key takeaways for each stakeholder group – I’ve moved them to articles. Here’s what I already know for sure, GAI is quite simply going to reinvent the legal ecosystem!
*We launched two more clinics over the last few weeks – we now have three in Legal Ops, the Legal Design Collab and today, the Legaltech Confab. These sessions, about one a month, thanks to Mollie Tregillis, Melissa Lyon and Fiona McLay respectively, reflect and support a new way of working i.e., less about knowledge downloads (because we can get that everywhere) and more about practical experience sharing so we don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
*This one follows on from the first two, the critical importance in the legal world today of empathy, adaptability, flexibility, continuous improvement, curiosity, creativity and fostering/encouraging this in every part of every legal business. On this one, two things this week stood out for me: AFR’s report (Michael Pelly) about Gilbert + Tobin’s $20,000 AI Bounty to encourage staff engagement with AI and the announcement by Deloitte about their new Generative AI Practice. If legal is not recruiting for these capabilities now…well, you know the rest, right?
I’m looking forward to many Roundtables next week so lots more key takeaways about GAI from Legal Educators, Legal Ops Professionals, and the pro bono sector are coming your way…
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
