SYDNEY, August 25, 2017: Keeping up to date with changes in the legal profession is difficult, with professionals struggling to find time to identify, review and understand the latest innovations.
To support time-poor legal professionals keep up to speed, the Centre of Legal Innovation (CLI) today announced a new breakfast series where hot topics will be presented in a focused and concise way over a morning meal.
Each breakfast session will feature an area of innovation impacting the legal profession, with industry experts discussing and interacting with the audience on the latest trends and developments.
Ms Terri Mottershead, Director of the CLI, said the breakfast series is designed for legal professionals with limited time but an unlimited desire for knowledge about developments in the industry.
“A CLI Breakfast is a great way to start the day. We will take a current topic and break it down so participants can quickly understand the issues involved and how it affects the work they do.”
“Each breakfast will feature acknowledged thought leaders who will discuss why the topic is relevant to the legal industry and the impacts on individuals, firms and legal departments.”
“Participants will be encouraged to challenge assumptions and share their experience so everyone walks away with practical solutions as well as identifying new opportunities.”
“The Breakfast Series is part of the CLI’s program to support legal professionals look at things differently and to better understand the changes transforming their industry. They are also a great platform for networking and sharing ideas with other professionals,” Ms Mottershead said.
Demystifying Legal Innovation through Design Thinking
The first breakfast series topic is ‘Demystifying Legal Innovation through Design Thinking’.
Design Thinking is a systematic process of creative and collaborative problem solving. A design-thinking approach takes a holistic view of the client experience in order to understand each client’s needs, and then creating an improved legal service tailored to those needs.
The presenters of the first breakfast series will be Ohten, a company which uses its award-winning client-centred innovation methodology to help organisations thrive during disruption. Ohten have developed a fresh approach to legal services and client partnering that ensures the work lawyers do aligns with what businesses need.
During this breakfast workshop, the presenters will draw on their experience as lawyers and consultants working with the concepts of innovation and design thinking every day. Attendees will benefit from a hands-on experience in key design thinking principles.
The event will take place in Melbourne on August 29th, and will be repeated in Sydney on August 30th and Brisbane on August 31st. Hive Legal will host the event in Melbourne and the College of Law will do likewise in Sydney and Brisbane.
